Client: StencilMaker · What we built: brand identity and marketing website · Status: live
The problem
Every tattoo starts with a stencil - the clean line drawing an artist transfers onto skin before the needle ever touches it. Getting from a client’s reference photo to that stencil has traditionally meant hours of manual tracing: isolating the contrast, simplifying the shapes, and redrawing the whole thing as linework that will actually transfer.
StencilMaker’s team solved that in software. Their AI turns a reference photo into transfer-ready linework in seconds. What they didn’t have was a way to explain it to the artists who needed it.
What we built
A product this technical lives or dies on whether a working artist understands it in ten seconds. Our job was the brand and the front door.
- Brand identity from scratch - name treatment, type, palette, and a visual language that reads as a professional tool rather than a novelty AI toy.
- Marketing website, designed and engineered - the full site at thestencilmaker.com, built to load fast on a phone in a studio.
- Product story and conversion copy - taking four style vocabularies and a contrast-isolation pipeline and turning them into a page an artist reads once and signs up from.
What we didn’t build
The AI engine. The image pipeline, the model work, the stencil output - that’s the client’s product, and it’s the reason the site has something worth selling. We’re careful about that line, because a portfolio that blurs it isn’t worth much to the next person reading it.
Why it matters
Good software gets ignored every day for want of a front door. StencilMaker’s team built something artists genuinely want; the brand and site are what let those artists find it, understand it, and trust it enough to upload their first reference photo.
